The Conservative Crown & Bridge Prep
 The
Maryland Bridge is a popular treatment plan used when
restoring virgin teeth. The prep is more conservative
so it is less invasive on tooth structure than conventional
bridgework. The prep is critical though, since
there will not be full coverage on abutment teeth.
Mesial/distal contacts should be made parallel
at the incisal or occlusal half of the tooth.
Place a small rest seat in the cingulum of anterior abutments.
A .5mm deep pin prep can be used. Place a mesial/distal
occlusal rest on the posterior abutments. Remove
undercuts or bulges from the lingual. Take the impression,
shade and send to the laboratory.
Panavia 21 is recommended for cementing the Maryland
Bridge. Panavia 21 is rated the highest of all
the self curing resin cements by Reality.
